Ayurveda Spirituality

The foundation of Ayurveda Spirituality is the same as the Yogic  path to enlightenment, in that vein in order to make real progress a good effort or commitment is required from the serious student committed to  spiritual development.

“There is no teacher, living or past, who can give us the actual understanding of Truth. A teacher can only put our feet upon the path and point the way. That is all. It is wholly dependent on the individual to make his way to Truth.”

The foundation of solid spiritual growth is based upon the ethical precepts set forth in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, these will not only keep you from creating bad karma, and illness, but also cease the samskaras(lay explanation- not literal- think scars in your conciousness)we create though silly choices we make based upon ego like anger,(violence, verbal, thought, or physical) or desire, attachment to a human(i can only be happy if i posess him/her.)

this ethical code is split into Yama(effort) and Niyama(Rest)

The Yamas consists of the following:

  • Ahimsa – Non-Violence
  • Satya-Truthfulness
  • Brahmacharya – Control of Sexual Energy
  • Asteya – Non-Stealing

The Niyamas are as follows:

* Samtosha – Contentment
* Shaucha – Purity
* Svadhyaya – Self-Study
* Tapas – Self-Discipline
* Ishvara pranidhana – Surrender To God

The Yoga eight fold path consists of the following:

2. Niyama – Rules of Personal Behavior

4. Pranayama – Control of the vital energy through breathing
5. Pratyahara – Control of the Senses
